When the parents and I meet we will go over what the mother's desires and wishes are with her doula and with her birth plan. We will talk about her fears and concerns as well as her birth partner's and what they are "both" hoping for as far as support. I will show the mother a few prenatal yoga poses that are helpful to prepare her uterus for birth. We will also go over a few nutritional suggestions that will help nourish the mother and her baby throughout her pregnancy as well as build up oxygen in the cells for birth.
If the mother chooses me as her doula a retaining fee is due upon signing of papers. We will then set up a second meeting where we can get to know one another a little better, and I will show the birth partner accupressure points, massage techniques, etc. that he/she can do along with me while the mother is in labor.
The full amount that we have agreed upon will be due by the 15th one month before the baby is due.
I do offer the mother a "free" prenatal massage as well as a postnatal massage up to 6 weeks after birth.
Additional Offers:
Infant Massage: 30 min. $35.00
Infant Cranialsacral: 30 min. $35.00
Many parents are finding that when breastfeeding issues arise it is helpful to take their babies to a Massage Therapist or Chiropractor. Although there are many Chiropractor's that I feel do excellent work and are beneficial to the community, I do not recommend taking an infant to a chiropractor to have neck and jaw bones adjusted. The infants bones are still in growth stages and delicate. I do however believe infant massage and cranialsacral is a safe alternative and has been extremely helpful to babies with breastfeeding issues.
